Reminders from Our Nurse's Office

We’ve had a few seasonal illnesses make their way through schools, including hand-foot-mouth, impetigo, and common colds. For more information about signs, symptoms, and how to treat hand-foot-mouth, please use the link found here from the CDC.

Our staff is following the guidelines of the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the CDC to keep students safe and healthy.

Here are some of the steps we’re taking:

  • Sanitizing classrooms and high-touch areas throughout the day and evening.
  • Regular use of hand sanitizers in classrooms and shared spaces.
  • Encouraging frequent handwashing, especially after using the bathroom, after lunch, and after recess.
  • Using individual water bottles and limiting shared use of water fountains.
  • Providing hand wipes in classrooms for quick clean-ups.
  • Limiting shared supplies by removing community bins of pencils, markers, and other materials.
  • Encouraging healthy spacing within group seating areas to reduce the spread of germs while keeping collaboration strong.

Our goal is to keep students healthy, learning, and engaged in their education at school. You can help by encouraging your child to practice healthy habits both at home and at school.

Here are a few tips to share with your child:

  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before eating and after coughing, sneezing, or using the restroom.
  • Use tissues or your elbow to cover coughs and sneezes to keep germs from spreading.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth to reduce the chance of germs getting into the body.
  • Get plenty of rest so the body stays strong and ready to fight off illness.
  • Stay active and eat nutritious foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to boost the immune system.
  • Drink water regularly to stay hydrated.

If your child is not feeling well, especially if they have a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, please keep them home until they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours without medication. This helps prevent the spread of illness to classmates and staff.

Thank you for working with us to keep our school community safe and healthy. Together, we can help all our students have a strong and successful academic year!

If you have any questions about when it’s safe for your child to return to school, please reach out to our school nurse for guidance.

DISTRICT COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING

On Monday, November 17, 2025, a team of diverse stakeholders will assemble to review and revise the Annville-Cleona School District’s Comprehensive Plan, focusing on our mission, vision, shared values, school performance assessments, and setting goals for the future. The last update to our plan occurred in March 2023; per the Pennsylvania Department of Education, our plan must be updated every three years. Planning for continuous improvement of teaching and learning is critically important to ensuring that all students have access to an excellent education that prepares them for college, career, and life. This type of planning is grounded in evidence-based approaches that can both improve student outcomes by allocating resources to programs and practices likely to have a positive impact. Opportunities to create, assess, and adjust throughout the cycle empower our school district to engage stakeholders in the pursuit of a shared vision for student success during planning meetings.

We have invited various parents, teachers, administrators, and community members from across the district to participate in our Comprehensive Plan update. We plan on conducting a collaborative process to ensure we gather feedback from each of our team members. Through this collaborative process, we will discuss the following plan components:

  • Academic Standards and Assessment Requirements
  • Gifted Education
  • Student Services
  • New Teacher Induction
  • Professional DevelopmenT

If you are interested in being a part of our Comprehensive Planning Steering Committee, please contact your respective building principal.

We hope that you will be able to join us at 6:00 pm in the High School Media Center on November 17, 2025. Light refreshments will be served.
